For those who just can't wait any longer to leap into the world of 3D, Toshiba offers its 55WX800U. Bigger in both size and price than the 46WX800U, this 55-inch 3D, LED LCD TV brings all the signature features of the WX800U line in a larger frame. With that, expect Toshiba's branded performance features in addition to 3D capability and a suite of web apps.
The Toshiba 55WX800U comes in the same angular black bezel as its smaller sibling, continuing a tradition of minimalistic design. This 3D TV's stand is also without a swivel, but it too can make use of the Vesa Mounting Pattern. What's behind the 55WX800U hasn't changed much either. Four HDMI ports, two USB ports, an Ethernet port and the standard component, PC and digital audio ports can all be found behind Toshiba's CrystalCoat anti-reflective, LED LCD screen.
Unsurprisingly, this display sports full1080p HD with the standard 16:9 aspect ratio and 1,920x1,080 resolution. Packed inside is Toshiba's PixelPure 5G, a 14-bit video processor that it claims increases gradation levels for smoother, clearer images. And with its branded ClearFrame technology, Toshiba assures that this TV's frame rate is better than the standard LCD TVs with a 240Hz refresh rate said to create crisp and clear images regardless of motion. Resolution+, an image scaling system that enhances the details of every image, making everything "feel like HD" according to the company, rounds out the performance feature set of the Toshiba 55WX800.
This Toshiba 55WX800U comes WiFi-ready to make full use of the company's list of web apps such as Netlfix, YouTube and Blockbuster. But remember, to enjoy the 3D features in the 55WX800U you will need 3D glasses, which go for $169.99 each direct from Toshiba, and a 3D-capable device such as a Blu-ray disc player. That being said, Toshiba offers the 55WX800U, a 3D LCD TV equipped with energy-saving LED back lighting and a list of performance and entertainment features.
