Some people would tell you that buying second hand laptops is never a good idea. The reason for this is that a lot of individuals have done this but found the device was plagued with problems. If you have the money then it is recommended that you purchase something new. If you really can't afford it then there are a few tips that should make it more likely that you get a second hand laptop that won't cause you too many headaches.
- Those who want to buy a second hand laptop will have to make sure that they know exactly what they are looking for. You normally don't get much information about these devices when you buy them, particularly if you are buying from a private seller. The make and the price is probably all you will be told about it. For this reason you will need to do a bit of research first of all to make sure that any laptop you are considering is going to be suitable.
- If you want to know for sure whether you are getting a good deal then it would be a wise move to find out about prices of second hand laptops. You should never pay more than half of what it would cost to buy a brand new model. These devices depreciate fast.
- It is a good idea to fully test a second hand laptop before you buy. These don't have too many moving parts but there still is a lot that can go wrong with them. Make sure you test the USB ports and CD rom.
- When you are buying a second hand laptop it is worthwhile finding out if you are still able to buy replacement batteries for them. This might be a bit harder if the laptop is old. It is not good to have a laptop with a battery that can't be replaced.

Hard drive Media Players and Recorders, ARE THEY ANY GOOD?
No matter where i go, i just never seem to get a good answer.. Does anyone have ANY type of HDD media player recorder? and is it any good? They do exist but no one seems to have one.. I thought these things would be the thing of the future, being able to record from the tv to the hard drive and a storage HDD for ALL the media files that can be played right onto your TV..
Please someone help me and direct me to some that are good... Im wanting one but really dont want to waste my money if no one has one..
Sure - they work great.
I have had several DVR's from my cable company and Dish Network and they all work great. (My wife is so spoiled by DVR technology that she refused to let us get a HDTV until HD DVR's were available).
You usually lease these from your cable or sat provider. This is because the real secret to effortless DVR is the nightly updated program guide.
You can buy your own. There is a HD Tivo unit that accepts a cable card from your cable company. There is also a new "Moxi" unit which you can buy for about $400.
