Audio Video Care: Ways In Cleaning Home Entertainment Components
Keeping good care of your audio-video system and cleaning it appropriately and consistently is vital to the longevity and performance of any entertainment component. It is difficult to keep your equipment free of dust, fingerprints, pet hairs, and other harmful substances especially if there are plenty in the family who use your equipment. Plus, it can even damage your system if you are not careful with your cleaning. On the other hand, it can also harm the performance of your audio and video component if you let dirt pile up on their surface. When damage occurs, it may result to replacement in certain parts of the equipment. Here are some tips to care for your audio video equipment. By simply following this steps, you can increase the lifetime of your media equipment.
Television – Being the largest part of a home entertainment system, it also attracts the most dust. Thus, it should get the top priority in your cleaning. Make sure to clean this properly to avoid damage on your system, especially if you have the screen of an LCD TV. Use cleaning kit that effectively and safely cleans all types of screens and electronic audio video equipment. Before cleaning, power off your TV and make sure to unplug it from the power source. Gently wipe the screen, make sure you do not put too much pressure on it, using the soft dry cloth provided in the cleaning kit. It is crucial to be careful with LCD screens because they have a specific outer layering that can be damaged with too much contact. Wet cloths are not advisable to use with LCD screens especially if you use alcohol or thinner on the cloth. Make sure to use the spray and the microfiber cloth provided in the cleaning kit. For rear-projection TV, clean the screen the same way although you can also clean it using a soft dry cloth.
Speakers – In cleaning the speakers, you need to wipe the dirt from the cabinet, grille, and drivers. Also, do not forget in your routine the audio headphones wireless. Whether your cabinet for the component is made of metal, plastic, wood-like veneer, or laminated material, constant wiping of dust and dirt is necessary. Any type of household furniture sprays is not recommended because they can damage the finish of your cabinets. Use a soft dry or slightly dampened cloth. For the grille, if it is made of fabric, you can simply vacuum it or place it is lukewarm water if it is removable. For your wireless headphones, use cloth included in your cleaning kit to remove dirt that have gathered due to everyday use.
